The girls danced their feet off again this year during their dance recital. Both girls took jazz, tap and ballet. It made for a long night in Kearney on Tuesdays (4-8pm) for rehearsals, but it is worth it for me. I love to see them grow in grace and confidence.
This year we had the pleasure of picking up one of Anlynn's classmates and taking her to class with us. We would pick her up from school and race to Kearney just in time for class to start. Her mom works in Kearney and had been traveling out of town and back during her work day to take her daughter to dance. I was thrilled when she asked me if we could make her life simpler by transporting her daughter for her. In case I needed one more reason to love homeschooling...had we been in public school we would not have made it to dance in time ourselves, let alone be able to bless this family. We had not known them at all before she asked, but God used this to create an unexpected friendship for both Anlynn and me. Here's Anlynn with her friend Jadyn in their tap costumes. We're hoping for a playmate soon before summer slips away.My beautiful ballerinas. I love watching these girls on stage. I can't believe how much Amana has grown in her dance skills since she first started four years ago. And Anlynn is learning a lot, too.
The girls had a number of people come to their performances this year. That makes it so much more fun! Grandma and Grandpa Peacock, three cousins, Granny and Papa Ricky, Nanny, and our Pastor and his wife attended. Thanks for coming! Oh, and of course Lige and me! (both nights, I might add.) Since recital nights tend to get long, we had a sitter for Isaac and Harrison last year. This year, however, we thought Harrison was old enough to attend one performance. It is important to us that our children learn to support each other in their activities. I think Harrison enjoyed it, especially when there were a couple of boy dancers. :)
We are enjoying our dance-free summer, but are also looking forward to starting up again this fall.
