Trying it again

Sewing machines and I have a hate-hate relationship. I do not like anything that requires precision, planning and patience. Believe me, over the years I have tried to make a few things. Really, I have. I made this wilty stuffed snowman when I was a child. It was so sad. And my mom actually put it on display at Christmas time! I think she may have felt sorry for me. My grandma is an amazing seamstress and has fashioned many things for me over the years from hemming pants, to redesigning prom dresses, to alterering my wedding gown. My mother is pretty good at a machine as well. She made countless Halloween costumes, Bible covers, and curtains. In the tradition of these great women, I have attempted to sew. It's not been pretty. I can barely stitch a straight line. It takes me forever to figure out a pattern. And I swear to you, a perfectly functioning sewing machine will somehow malfucntion the moment I touch it. All of this didn't stop me, however, from trying to make these darling little dresses. My girls look so pretty in them, that they keep you from noticing the poor workmanship! But I must add that I designed the matching headbands myself! I have to say, I feel pretty "Proverbs 31-ish"! Well, I guess just more like "Proverbs 31:13 and 19ish"!

I have to say, I am very impressed!! Once in home ec. class, I was trying to re-thread a bobbin and accidentally pressed my foot on the pedal and sewed green thread up my entire thumb. Haven't touched a sewing machine since!
