The Reed family had it's first day of school today. Anlynn started preschool in the big kid class, and Amana started 1st grade with me. Both girls had great first days. Since it was Anlynn's second year at her preschool, she marched in brave and confident. Anlynn enjoyed seeing old friends again and making new ones. She played dancing ribbons, a ball game where they introduced themselves, and got straight to work on seatwork. I have to brag on my little girl. When she handed me her papers, there was a special award on top. It said, "Anlynn is being awarded this certificate for being a good friend to someone who was sad." I don't know the details of the interaction, but this mama's heart was so proud I almost cried right there!

Amana had a great day, too. From what I hear, she LOVES her teacher! I mean, really, who wouldn't?! When I was making lesson plans, I forgot to take Labor Day into account and actually planned school for yesterday. I didn't want to start off on the wrong foot, so today we did school in them morning (Monday's work) and this afternoon (today's work). Amana kept a good attitude and worked her best. I was pleased to see how much she retained from last year. I learned a lot about myself last year, and so this year we're doing things a bit differently. I don't function well in a dark basement, especially in winter, so we're doing school upstairs this year. I'm trying to give myself the freedom to be flexible. Isaac will help me with that! Last year I wanted things to be a certain, scheduled way and when things didn't always work out that way, I was a little less motivated. Needing to meet Isaac's needs readily will force me to be flexible. I'm excited for the year ahead!

This is a picture of Anlynn with her teacher. She is a great teacher with a real love for the kids.
Harrison made sure that he was not excluded from First Day of School Pictures! He very loudly shouted, "Take a pichur of me! Cheeeeese!"
A random funny from Anlynn tonight:
We told her to wash her face after covering it with dirt from outside. When she was done, she came to us and asked, "Is my face gone?" :)
