Family worship time

Since last December, we often have Family Devotion time. During this time we read a passage from the bible, read a children's devotional that corresponds, then we each pray. As I've posted before, we also like to have jam sessions in which we crank the music and dance together. This past weekend, we spent a good hour and a half dancing and singing together. Lige and I specifically limited the the music to songs about God and called it Family Worship Time.

I will be honest, there are nights when we just skip the whole routine. We're often tired or we get in late from somewhere. Sometimes we just want the kids to be in bed already! Tonight we held our devotion time. As soon as Lige said "Amen", we were ready to send the kids to bed. Before they got there, however, Anlynn asked if we could have Family Worship Time. Lige and I looked at eachother wearily, but nodded yes. We said we'd listen and dance to two songs. We hit play on my hot pink iPod and set to boogie for Jesus. We were having so much fun in worship that when the kids asked for "just one more song", we couldn't say no. It reminded me of something Lige and I learned from a Bible study last year. A quote from the study says, "Do you really believe that what you believe is really real?" It's not as much of a riddle in this example: If you really believed that when you prayed you were in the presence of God, you would have a hard time stopping. I felt that way tonight. We were tired and weary from a long day, a nagging cold, and plain old selfishness. But once we stepped into the presence of God in worship, it was hard to turn off the music. We just love Him so much and He is just so Great.

But just in case you thought our Family Worship Time was all KumBaYah, here's a real taste! Enjoy...and enjoy some of your own worship to our Wonderful Savior!
