Outdoor Expo

Saturday was a beautiful day to be outside, so the Deertales Clan headed to Fort Kearny for the Kearney Outdoor Expo. There were shooting demos, outdoor crafts for the kids, fishing demonstrations, hunting exhibits, trapping info, and so much more. We walked together enjoying both the beautiful day and our time together as a family.
The girls made nests and planted Sullivan's Milkweed in the kids area. There was an exhibit with turtles, fish, crawfish, and tadpoles that the kids could touch and explore. Amana, as you can guess, didn't really want any part of that. Anlynn is always hit and miss with these types of things. If you ask her or push her, she backs down. If you just let her be, she surprises you! On this day, she marched right up to the tank with Bullfrog Tadpoles and scooped one up! If flopped around in her hand and landed back in the water. She grabbed another one and laughed. She said later, "I wasn't scared at all! It was really wiggly in my hand!"
A couple of weeks ago, Amana got to go fishing with Daddy. She loved it so much, she keeps asking to go again. At the Outdoor Expo, there was a fishing area set up for kids. She kept asking and asking, but there were so many kids there, we decided to pass. She was disappointed, but is looking forward to another trip with Dad soon.
Speaking of fishing, we have a neighbor boy that
Lige has just started mentoring. This kid is so excited to go fishing! There are no men in his life, and so fishing has never been a real option for him until now. Lige met with him last week for the first time just to play catch for an hour. Several days later, Lige ran into his mom and she told Lige that when he came home that night he actually sat quietly and watched a movie... something she said rarely happens. I spoke with his mom today at the grocery store, and she reiterated his desire to go fishing! I'm sure Lige will try to accomodate him sometime in the near future! Will you join us in praying for this child? This is a stretch for Lige, and I know he'd appreciate your prayers as well. Lige is used to working with high schoolers, so a 9 year old is new terrain! We desire for this child to feel loved by us, but we also want him to know the love that God has for him. Please pray for a tender heart and opportunities to share Jesus with him.
As always, thanks for checking in! :)
