Here's a quick update of our housing situation. We had a showing Wednesday, an open house yesterday, and another showing today. We are so thrilled by all the interest, but those interested are really interested! After being told it may take from 9-12 months to sell our house, so much "interest" within the first month is a little alarming! We have 3 potential buyers that are very serious...Lige thinks we could have our first offer this week!
We've looked at a couple of houses for ourselves, but they've all left much to be desired. One of the "possibilities" now has a pending sale. The first one we looked at, the foreclosure, is still available, but we're losing interest as we add up all that would be needed for it to reach it's potential: money and time.
Today we looked at a house just south of Minden on 2.5 acres. It's in the upper bracket of our price range, but we loved the location and land. There was so much we loved about it, but there are serious foundation issues and an issue with where the septic system drains...both costly. We scanned the paper for other options and drove around to scope them out. One was an acreage west of Minden. It was affordable, we loved all the land, but there were drawbacks. For one, it only has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath: exactly like we have now. For the price, we could conceivably add on, but then we got to thinking...maybe we should just build a house. If we're viewing all these houses, which are not cheap, and always thinking, "well this could work if we x, y, z for this amount more...", why not look at buying a lot and building a new home that would meet our needs? Ahhhh! Sometimes I don't like being a grown up!
We're not sure what to do next, so we would really appreciate your prayers! We know God has something planned for us, we just don't know what that is yet. But we are trusting in Him. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11) We are claiming the truth in this verse: that God knows what He is doing and that He will take care of us. I find great peace in that knowledge, as we continue to wait on Him.
