Since we are homeschooling, I didn't know if field trips were going to be a part of our experience. Sure, there are some homeschooling families that count every outside-the-home activity as a field trip, but I didn't want to feel like I was shirking my responsibility as teacher or feel like I was taking advantage of the "system." Feeling all this, I was so happy when Amana's former preschool teacher (who is also Anlynn's teacher this year) invited Amana to attend a field trip with the 4 and 5 year old class. I am so glad that Miss Cindi thought to include Amana. Amana had a great day enjoying old friends and experiencing a real field trip!
Amana attended a Farm Safety Day at our fairgrounds. She watched a video, had a snack, watched a puppet show, and learned all about how to stay safe on a farm. She came home with a big bag of goodies including a T-shirt, water bottle and coloring book. She learned to stay safe when a tracker goes by and to stay outside the fence of large animals.
I am so grateful Amana was able to have this experience. I thank God for providing ways for Amana to keep connected with friends and practice her social skills. Even though we are sure in our decision to homeschool, we weren't sure how Amana was going to make and have friends. God knew this was important to us, and in His kindness He is already providing us with opportunities for friendship. Oh, how I love Him!
