Our season of firsts continued this weekend. Amana "competed" in her first race. It was a 1 mile kids fun run...unfortunately she didn't find it as fun as she had hoped! She informed us that she was too scared to run. We had several conversations about committment: that when you say you'll do something, you follow through and about being brave: being brave doesn't mean you're not scared, it means you do it anyway. With Lige by her side, Amana finished the race. She received a "super star" medal that she almost forfeited because she wanted Lige to carry her! Of course the event would have given her a medal reguardless, but Lige told her if she didn't do it herself she wouldn't get one! He said that comment gave her tiny burst of endurance, but then she looked up at him and said, "I don't want a medal"! Oh Amana Girl!
Harrison had a first of his own on Saturday. He had his first haircut from a barber. Lige took him to his barber. I really felt left out of the whole thing! Those barber shops are really "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" clubs! Lige wouldn't even let me go in to take Anlynn to the bathroom...I had to take the girls to Target! Silly boys! Thank goodness Lige came out of there with a picture! When the haircut was over, Lige told the barber, "Well, let me at least get a picture of him in the chair, or else my wife will have a fit!" Thanks, honey!
