Here I am in all my very pregnant glory. Gestational age: 39 weeks 2 days. We took a side shot, but it's lost somewhere in Lige's computer, so the front shot will have to do.
To make school a little more interesting last week, the girls and I did a probability lesson based on whether the baby would be a boy or a girl. We put a slip of paper with "boy" and a slip of paper with "girl" into a bowl. Each girl got to draw a slip out of the bowl ten times. Then they tallied their results and documented them in a graph. If I knew how to use Lige's computer, I would have included pictures of their graphs. (BTW, the power cord to my laptop was damaged and as a result my computer is now kaput. Hence the using of Lige's.)
Amana's results were my personal favorite: Boy: 3 and Girl: 7.
Anlynn's results, of course, were contrary: Boy:6 and Girl: 4.
I guess it really is a 50/50 chance!
As a family we also decided to do a poll as to when this baby would arrive. Here are the guesses:
- Lige: Oct. 3rd (the eternal optimist!)
- Harrison: Oct. 4th (Out of no where he says, "10-4-11!" It was because of this that we decided to make the poll!)
- Isaac: Oct. 11th (we had him point on the calendar)
- Me: Oct. 12th (always the pessimist thinking it's realistic!)
- Anlynn: Oct. 13th (HER birthday is on the 13th, so shouldn't everybody's?!)
- Amana: Oct. 15th (I thought about spanking her for that, but Lige reminded me she was taking a guess not trying to be mean!)
So, what are your guesses? My official due date is Wednesday, Oct. 5th.
I'm gonna ask for some prayers now. I have a suspicion that this baby has flipped into the breech position. I have not had this confirmed by the doctor yet (our next appointment is Monday the 3rd), but I think I feel a head on the right side under my ribs, I feel kicks low and hiccups high. Being breech doesn't mean anything is wrong with the baby. It just means my delivery might look different than I had planned. All this time I have been planning an induction about a week after my due date. With this potentially new development, we may try a procedure to rotate baby which may send me into labor. Or we may end up with a c-section. My ultimate prayer is that babe would be head down and allow for a natural delivery. And I would appreciate your prayers for that. But please also pray that if a c-section is necessary, my heart and mind would be at peace with that. Since this will *probably* be our last baby, I have been really looking forward to laboring and birthing this baby. While a safe and healthy baby is the goal, I know I might experience some disappointment if a c-section is required. But I need to be okay with that. And I need your prayers to make that happen.
I am trusting God moment by moment with this. Whatever happens, "all the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful." Thank you for your prayers!
