Oh, we had some fun this weekend! Lige and Amana competed in a Mud Run in Lincoln on Saturday. Some of you may remember Amana's last race a few years ago...the poor girl came in dead last and cried the whole mile. Well, I'm happy and proud to announce that she did AMAZING this time! And Lige did pretty well, too. :)
Here are Daddy and Amana before the race.

Amana ran the one mile Mini Mud Run. Lige ran it with her, since she was a little nervous to run it alone. Later in the morning, Lige ran a 5k through the mud. Here they are at the starting line right before Amana's race.
Lige ran with her till the mud pit at the end. There was a huge slip and slide into mud, followed by crawling under 2 logs. That tiny speck in the yellow (below) is Amana! She finished her mile in less than 9 minutes and 30 seconds!
Based on this picture, I'm pretty sure she had fun!
Lige had to run through 3 mud pits and a creek during his 5k. This is him after the final mud pit with about a mile left to the race. He was upset that he lost his sunglasses in the mud pit at the bottom of the slip-n-slide!
And here are my muddy champions!

I am so proud of both my filthy athletes! Amana ran the entire mile and didn't give up. She thought the mud was awesome and wore it as a badge of courage and honor. I have to admit, I got a little emotional watching her run that last stretch to the finish line. She was brave and confident. She ran through the finish line straight into her Daddy's waiting arms. She cried a little then because, "I was just so happy!" Lige and Amana trained together for two weeks for this race. Lige pushed her to work hard, reminding her that she "could do all things through Christ who strengthens" her. The practices were hard and there were tears shed then, for sure. But they LOVED that special time together. And as in everything, the hard work and practice paid off in the end.
I love you, my Two Muddy Runners!
