Garden time

We are gardening again this year. I like that something so simple can bring such joy into our lives. We all love to watch our fruit and vegetables grow. It's exciting when the first blossoms appear with the promise of yummy eating later on. This year we are growing onions, jalapenos, asparagus, zucchini, lettuce, corn, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Our cucumbers didn't make it this year. Boo. But we are happy that the rest of what we planted it looking to be a plentiful crop. Here's a peak so far:

Our lettuce is doing really well. We've already enjoyed a salad or two.

Our corn is also flourishing. It's "knee high before July!"

Our cantaloupe is already budding. Last year we yielded only one small, but yummy cantaloupe. We are hoping for a better return this year!

Can I just say again that I not only love our new camera, but that I love having a camera at all?! I wish I had time to develop my interest in photography into something more than a hobby, but for now I'm enjoying just messing around with it. One of the reasons I love cameras so much is that they capture the beauty and intricacy of God's creation.

This rose is starting to wilt, but I love the curl of the petals as it slowly dies.
The delicacy and balance in this day lily reminds me that God is a God of beauty, order, detail, and balance. And look at this precious babe. The curve of his ear unique to him alone, the fine hairs that are numbered by God. By the way, this is my darling new nephew, Wade. :)

I love that cameras have zoom. As I have mentioned before, I can make my world seem really big. And when I do that, I tend to get overwelmed. By zooming in on life through a camera lense, I am able to focus on the tiny reminders that God is in control of every detail in all of life. And that gives me peace because it reminds me that He is also in loving control of every detail of my life.
