Daddy sat with poor Harrison quite a while, from what I understand, attmepting hand clapping games and other such hopeful distractions. We weren't sure of the outcome, but at least he stopped screaming long enough to look happy for another picture!
Later that week, we tried again. Lige went to change his diaper and saw it wasn't wet. So he lugged him over to the bathroom for round two! He calmed a lot more quickly. Our shower curtain is covered in yellow ducks, and I'll tell you: it's been a potty-training life saver! All three kids have sat mesmerized by the duckies. I've sung a little ditty with each of them: "3 little duckies went out to play, over the hills and far away. When mommy ducky said quack quack quack, 2 little duckies came a-waddling back!" Yes, whatever it takes to keep them on the potty! Amana and Anlynn loved it...it's complete with had gestures, so how could they not! And Harrison seemed equally enthralled. A minute or two later, we heard....um....SUCCESS!
I remember the first time Amana went potty...yes, I'm a real mom, remembering all sorts of motherly stuff! I was so excited I jumped up, screamed, and hugged her, scaring the poor thing to death! I really believe that played a huge part in her potty-training delay! So when Harrison achieved success, I made efforts to show MILD enthusiasm! He hasn't gone since, but hey, he's not even 2! I feeling pretty good!
