Rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous

A lot has happened in the past couple of weeks, and as a result, I'm slow in posting about my amazing trip to Texas last week. For Christmas, Lige and our good friend Jonathan arranged for Nikki and I to go to the Celine Dion together concert in Dallas!

It was a whirl-wind trip, but worth every rushed, crazy minute! I arrived in Dallas around 10 Sunday night, enjoyed a relaxing day with my best friend and her family on Monday (I even sang kareokee with Anna!). Then Nikki and I got all dressed up for a musical night! I had a few hours with them Tuesday morning, then I was back in the air on my way home!

The concert was absolutely incredible. Celine was amazing, her voice flawless, her show dazzling. I got chills and tears several times throughout the show. You know a voice is truly beautiful when this singer is not putting on a Christian show with Christian songs or hymns, and yet I still wanted to praise the Lord for such beauty. To share such wonderment with my best friend was a joy I'll treasure forever. For Christmas, my parents gave me a 2 CD set of Celine...I listened to it A LOT before the concert, and it was the perfect set for the show...almost every song was performed live!

During the concert Celine (yes, we're on first name basis!) introduced Emmitt Smith and his wife, who were there to enjoy the show as well. It was fun to see him on the big screen, knowing Lige would enjoy the fact I was at a concert with one of his Pro football heroes.

Winding our way out after the show, a large security guard walked right at us and told everyone in a loud voice, "Excuse us, coming through." Nikki and I thought he was leading the way for someone in a wheel chair or something, but no! It was for Emmitt Smith! He actually walked past us! I really did rub shoulders with him! He wore a velvety sport coat, and I had the insane notion to reach out and feel it! Can you imagine!? Thank goodness I with-held that impulse. Instead, however, I said, "Hey Emmitt" before I knew my mouth was working! Not "Hello Sir" or "How do you do Mr. Smith?" Nope, my brain thought we should be on friendly terms! He actually spoke to me and replied, "Hi, how are you doing?" He was very pleasant and his wife was truly gorgeous.

It was such a fun trip. Oh, I can't believe it's almost been 2 weeks ago already!

(By the way, I was, um, able to get Nikki to snap a picture of me and Emmitt together! It turned out great, don't you think!)

Reading about our time together makes me smile, laugh and tear up all at the same time. The concert was such a wonderful experience, but being with you made it incredible!
I love you dear friend.
