Amana has had these tiny, pimple-like bumps on her legs for many months. Everyone keeps telling us they're nothing to worry about, that they'll eventually go away on their own. Well, they've been there for close to a year, and I'm tired of them! Since it's some kind of fungus, I decided to try the Gentian Violet. Yep, the same stuff we used in Harrison's mouth for thrush. So she's got about 50 dark purple spots on her legs, most of them close to the panty line.
At preschool today, to celebrate the very last day, they had a pajama party. Amana wore a nightgown...the really cute Ariel one she got for Christmas. Somehow the purple spots on her legs were revealed. Her teacher asked her what was all over her legs. And my very open, too open, daughter says to her teacher, "Oh, that's just Gentian Violet". Her teacher was a bit unclear about what that was, and Amana was quick to enlighten her. Amana tells Miss Cindi, "Mommy puts that owies, like the ones on my legs and in Harrison's mouth and on her boobies"! As she's telling me this, she's so matter-of-fact and dare I say, proud of herself for getting all the facts out there. If I had any modesty left after delivering three children, I would have been mortified. Instead, I'm just mildly embarressed and willing to put it out on my blog! Lucky you!

I cannot believe you were not mortified...but as one mom to another who has had to use the purple stuff on her boobies...I enjoyed the story more than you know!
