Okay, I don't mean to toot my own horn (well, maybe a little!) but I think I made one of the cutest Horse Cakes around!
As soon as Christmas was over, the Reed clan has been counting down until birthdays. I admit, I was gathering ideas for little girl birthday parties. My visions included things like a Full-dress Princess Tea Party or an Outdoor Art Extravaganza Party. I tell yah, I was getting really excited! I was making plans and thinking of party favors and games. I had 2 parties all set! And then Amana tells me she wants a Horsie Party. A what? Huh? I thought about steering her in a different direction, but she wouldn't budge. All my fine laid plans deflated like a balloon that slips from your grip trying to get it tied. There was a moment, just a short one, that I thought about making her do what I wanted. Then I thought what kind of a mother shoots down her child's dreams?!
Which leads us to the horse cake. Once I got used to the idea of a Horsie Party, I started thinking about the cake. I thought how cute it could be to do a cake like the My Little Ponies, you know- imaginary and purple and sparkled. Nope. Amana wanted a black and white Horsie Cake like Patch, a character from a new book she loves. And because I love her so much, I found a way to make a black and white Patch Horsie Cake! I hope it tastes as good as it looks!
Amana is having her Patch Horsie Cake this Thursday, May 1st. That is the day we decided to host her first-ever birthday party with friends. I'm a little nervous! I think Lige is too, because he said tonight, "If only a couple of friends can make it, we should just reschedule it." We'll see what happens! I'll post pictures of the event on Friday!
