Preschool Graduation

Amana graduated from preschool last Friday. They had a music program, graduation and a pizza party. After the weeping during the Christmas program, we were wondering how she would do this time. Things started out well. She marched right to her spot and stood there smiling so beautifully. When the music started, however, she got nervous and cried. She sat by her teacher during the next 3 songs. :-(

But we were very proud of her, because during the final song, she bravely went back up. She had a butterfly mask that we'd made together, and I think that helped bolster her confidence. They sang "If I were a...", a song I remember from my own childhood. She was the butterfly and got to go first. She held the microphone and sang out, "If I were a butterfly, I'd ...thank...you Lord...for...giving me...weeeeennnggsss!" The tears had started again, but we were happy she was able to get through her part.

I began to wonder if she'd feel comfortable going up yet again to receive her diploma. I must admit I was surprised to see her march so proudly up when her name was called. She had the most wonderful smile! As each child walked up, the teacher read what they wanted to be when they grew up and why. Other students chose things like princess, ballerina, pizza man, and baseball player. My beloved daughter wants to be a school teacher! She said that she wanted to help kids learn their letters like mommy and her teacher do, and also because the kids would call her "Miss"!

All in all, it was a great night. :-)
