County Fair Fun

Right before our vacation, Amana wrapped up her 4H year with a few more fair entries.  She entered a photography display, oatmeal cookies, and applesauce muffins.

Isn't she cute?!

It's amazing to me how on Wednesday she was in tears as she prepared to interview for her sewing project, but on Saturday she was a natural.  She had interview judging for her photo display and her cookies.  She was brave and confident and I was oh-so-proud.  :)

Amana had a very successful showing at fair this year.  Here is the summery of her events and ribbons:
  • Fashion Revue: Purple Ribbon
  • Sewing Clothing 2 (dress): Purple Ribbon
  • Photo display: Purple Ribbon
  • Applesauce Muffins: Blue Ribbon
  • Oatmeal Cookies (Big Grandma's family recipe from at least the 1940s): Purple Ribbon

One very exciting update...Amana's dress qualified for State Fair!

At our county fair, each 4H club displays their kids' products in their own area.  If any of the items qualify for State Fair after judging, the item is moved to a special "State Fair Qualifiers" section.  By accident Amana's dress didn't get moved, so it wasn't until we brought her stuff home after fair (and after our vacation, actually) that we noticed a purple sticker along with her purple ribbon.  The sticker read "Selected for State Fair Exhibit." We called the extension office to verify, where we were told that YES! Her dress WAS headed to the State Fair!  We are very excited for her and are very proud of the hard work she put into making this adorable dress.  Way to go, Amana!
