Completed brooder box

 We have the brooder box finished and ready for chicks!

Lige made a frame and attached it to the brooder box with hinges.  Then Amana and I stapled on the screen. 

 Lige also attached an extra piece of wood to the inside of the box so we could prop the lid open for easier cleaning and feeding.

 

We aren't really afraid of the chicks getting out...more about the cat or other predators getting in.  Do you think our latches will keep them out?!?!  We sure hope so!

Our original plan was to pick up chicks this past weekend.  However, when I called earlier in the week, they didn't have all 36 chicks we wanted.  So they've set aside 36 from the order they will get in on Wednesday.  So...Wednesday is the day we will be the proud owners of baby chicks!
