We enjoyed the fun side of Halloween this year in full force. We were able to raid the pumpkin patch of some friends and came home with about 15 pumpkins and just as many cool gourds. We had small pumpkins to paint and bigger ones to carve. This year we printed out some carving templates and ended up with some pretty cool looking pumpkins.
Harrison carved his Vampire Pumpkin with very limited help from Mom or Dad. He was pretty proud of his work!
Anlynn chose an awesome kitty face. She worked on it a bit, but I was the lucky one to do most of the carving on this one. It had a lot of tiny parts, so that made it more difficult-even for Mom!
Isaac kept calling his pumpkin "The Red-eyed Monster," but it was actually a ONE-eyed monster. He had a lot of fun poking the kid's carving knife into it all over the place and filling it up with left over pumpkin guts while Mom carved it out for him. :)
I was pleased with the effort Amana put into carving her pumpkin. It's a spooky Halloween cat with some difficult spots to cut. Even a year ago this would have been too much for her. She would have cried and given up. This year, however, she worked very hard, did most of it herself, and asked for a little bit of help when she needed it. It was pretty cool when it was done.
We actually went Trick-or-Treating this year. Yes, the year we move to the country is the same year we decide to tackle Trick-or-Treating! We had dinner with several friends and went begging with a whole huge group. While a bit crazy and overwelming at first, it ended up being a really fun way to spend the evening. There were almost 20 kids and 7 adults in our Costume Parade!
I tried getting a decent picture of all our kids in their costumes, but with all their friends and excitement this last picture was about as good as I could get!
We had two handsome cowboys, Super Girl, Tinkerbell and a pink poodle this year. Between Aunt Sandy and Big Grandma the kids find their way into cute costumes each year. Thank you!
