On the move

We have some exciting news.  We are going to be moving this summer!  Here's a sneak peak at our soon-to-be home.

About a month ago, a family in our church approached us with this question, "Have you ever thought about living in the country?"

Yes, actually, that was something we thought about a lot, but always with "maybe someday" tied to the end of it.  It was a desire of our hearts to be in a place where the kids could run and have adventures.  Raise a few chicks.  Hang clothes on a clothesline.  Invite people to dinner and have a place for them to sit.  But as I mentioned, it was always "maybe someday" because people just don't give farms away.  Or so we thought.

We will be renting this farmstead for next to nothing.  It is pure generosity on the part of this church family.  There would be no way we could even consider this but for their kindness and faithfulness.  They keep telling us it is a Win-Win situation...It's a definite WIN for us, but I'm still trying to work out how it's a win for them!

They are finishing up some projects on the house: new countertops in kitchen, new flooring in mud room, cabinets and drywall in kitchen/dining area, carpeting bedrooms, new window, storm windows, tub. We can paint however we want.  We have already planted a garden there.  When the projects are done, we can move on out there!

We have been spending time at The Farm every other day or so.  Lige put up a hammock for me for Mother's Day.  I planted some flowers.  Lige has mowed (with the mower the home owners have given us).  The kids have run amok and ridden bikes.  When I get there, I take a deep, relaxing breath and smile. This is a gift from God more wonderful than I could have dreamed up.  And we are oh, so thankful!

There's a lot of work to be done in preparation for the move, and that feels stressful and overwhelming at times.  But then we go stand in our soon-to-be yard and know it is all going to be worth it.

We'll keep you posted on the progress!
