Water Bug

Who loves to splish splash in the pool? This kid! When all the other kids developed a somewhat healthy fear of the water at this age, Isaac decides he is a fish! He LOVES being in the water. He thinks he should be able to splash and swim without any help at all. The cute little floatation device is a sanity saver for this mama. Our first trip to the pool was without it...and let me say I was afraid this kid was gonna drown the whole time! He is fearless when it comes to jumping in, running around where he can touch, and now with the floatie he'll actually swim by himself! Good greif! He is most content when he's with Lige over in the deeper side. He jumps in and goes under with smiles instead of screams. It's fun to have a toddler enjoy the pool so much, especially since we've been spending quite a bit of time there this summer.

The girls are halfway through private swimming lessons. It is incredible to me how much they have learned so quickly. They are jumping in, treading water, and perfecting several strokes. Amana has learned how relaxing it can be to do a back float. Anlynn has a beautiful free-style stroke that she picked up in about 5 minutes. It's fun to see them with their goggles on, splish-splashing with friends. It's safe to say by the time lessons are over, we will have been at the pool more this summer than the past 5 combined!

I got myself a fancy maternity suit, and I'm thankful I've been able to put it to good use. During the Adult Swim and Safety Breaks, I'm able to get some much needed excercise while feeling weightless!

Harrison is the most timid when it comes to the water this summer. He has a float vest of his own, but it hardly gives him confidence. He gets upset if he gets splashed. He mostly just walks around the shallow end. You'd think he wouldn't like going to the pool, but he's as excited as everyone else when we get ready. He will definitely be in lessons next summer.

What have you been doing to stay cool this summer?!
