Mulberry pickin'

The Friday before the Fourth of July, we were invited by some friends from church to pick mulberries. It sounded so quaint and simple and old fashioned...so we jumped at the chance to have some peaceful fun. Lige must have done this kind of thing before, because it was his idea to bring a sheet to catch the berries he shook from the tree.

While the sheet method was more efficient, the kids liked the more traditional form of picking.

I love Anlynn's look of intense focus!

Harrison was very happy with his harvest!

It was a fun and simple way to spend the morning together as a family. We gathered just enough for me to make Mulberry Jam. I even entered a pint in the Kearney County Fair!
