Random Mountain Moments

This will be my last blog post about the mountains. There's still a lot I'd like to relive, but I'll spare you from any more! This last post is a wrap-up of random mountain moments. Then onto other topics!

The girls had a new freedom while in the mountains. It seems a little silly, but they were allowed to take the little trail to the portable toilet all by themselves. This picture is them running back after a morning trip to the latreen. I felt a little emotional about it, which I understand is quite silly. You see, although it was nice not having to take them to the restroom every 25 minutes, I was left wondering where the time went. Allow me a moment to be melodramatic, but when did these precious girlies outgrow their need for me? A family snapshot during one of our hikes. This one was taken by propping the camera on a boulder, setting the timer, and me running back to my pre-determined spot. After three attempts, we settled on this one: about as good as it was going to get!
I told you we let the kids get dirty! On this particular night, our last night, they really got crazy with the dirt. We just watched and laughed while they had good, clean fun!

Before we herded them into the tent at bedtime, we thought we'd better try to get some of the filth off. Pots of water over the fire plus a plastic storage bin equals pint-sized mountain bathing! Notice Harrison gearing up for his bath in the "staging lane"!

Once again, we had an incredible vacation. We would go again tomorrow if we could. The kids did awesome and travelled well, we got to share our love for God's creation with them, and we had a wonderful chance to connect without all the noise and busyness of everyday life. Oh, mountains! Hope to see you again next year!
