A Fair Night and more

A Reed family tradition started the first summer Lige and I were married. We learned that on the last night of the Kearney County Fair there was a free BBQ. Every year since we have made a point in going. This year was no exception. It's usually about 105 degrees and we're melting our skin off, but this year was different. We had rain on and off all day and by the time we made it to the BBQ, the weather couldn't have been nicer! Dark clouds still threatened another downpour, but the rain held off while the Reed kids enjoyed a fun night.

What kind of fair would it be if the kids didn't get to ride some rides?! We spent $10 on tickets that got each girl 2 rides and Harrison 1. Not exactly fair, but Harrison is not quite old enough to know the difference! The girls each rode a flying dragon thing and the "America Ground" as Anlynn calls the merry-go-round. We encouraged Harrison's love affair with trains by selecting the circus train ride for him. We let him go all by himself...not sure if we would have let our first born do that at 2 years old, but hey, he's the third and he's a boy! He wasn't sure if he liked it or not, but at least he didn't cry!

Although our kids have been born into a rural community, their parents are still very much City-fied! Therefore, our kids are still enthralled with livestock. There's a young lady in our church who raised 2 hogs for the fair and she also really likes our kids. She invited them into the stall to pet the piggies! The kids all went in, though Anlynn took a little persuading. Amana and Harrison jumped right in and thought they were the coolest kids ever! It's fun to watch your children have new experiences. With all the real farm and ranch people there, I'm sure I looked silly taking pictures of my kids petting pigs, but I don't care! I love that I captured this moment!

We have made the decision to take our house off the market. The paperwork reads "Temporary withdrawl of property due to baby due or until further notice", so it's not actually a closed deal. With all things considered, this is the best choice for us right now. Yes, it was difficult, but with the decision made comes some relief. I know I'm bringing my new baby home to this house. I can start washing newborn clothes and get the changing table ready. And I can do all this without wondering if I need to prepare for a showing. Like I said, a lot of relief.

My pregnancy keeps trucking along. Baby is doing well and mama is doing pretty well, too. At this point we're 2 weeks from the due date...I wish I could feel hopeful enough to think our baby would be born between now and then! But as every-single-one-of-you-reading knows, that is gonna take a miracle! We've talked to the doctor about inducing early, but with my history it just doesn't look very promising. Even with all the medicinal help, if your body isn't ready for labor, it just isn't ready for labor! We'll see what happens and continue to pray God would work something new and wonderful out!
Thanks for checking in!
