A great day

We had a great Saturday as a family. Taking advantage of the super low gas prices, we filled the van and took off on an adventure! We headed southwest for a reservouir we know. Lige was scoping out potential hunting spots. Lige and I loved the spontinaity of the day. The kids were less than impressed! Among the numerous "Where are we/when will we get there" questions, Amana grew crazy as we drove off to no where. From the back of the van, we heard Amana in near-hystarics say, "We're going to get lost, you two!"

I was trying to get a candid, profile shot of the fam, but Amana, ever my daughter, couldn't help looking up with a huge grin! Such a poser!

We stopped to look around near a river for a while. It fun to get out into nature and spend time together as a family.

Whenever you trap 3 kids in a car, you never know what you're going to hear. I had a piece of paper handy to write down any cute sayings might come out of their precious mouths. Here are the results:

  • In a small town we passed a park with a merry-go-round, to which Anlynn said, "I want to go on that America Ground." So sweet!
  • When we were up in the hills southwest of us, we sale a for sale sign and decided to find house. We were twisting and turning and came up on a crest and Amana (who had been kind of a party pooper) exclaimed with great joy, "We're on top of the world!"
  • We had snaked our way back to the interstate at the Lexington exit. When Amana asked, again, where we were, we told her Lexington. She cried out in disbelief, "We're in Mexico?"!
  • And finally, late into our trip we heard a loud fake, um, bodily function coming from Anlynn. Yes, she busted a very loud mouth-fart. Then she said, in a very silly, cartoon character voice, "Excuse me. I've had too much food!" When did 3 years get a sense of humor?!

To Lige and I, this was a great day.
