chickens!
Lige and I worked together to built our first brooder box. Usually when I say "we" I mean just Lige. But not this time! I actually used a circular saw, a miter saw, and a drill like a pro! Well, maybe not like a pro, but at least well enough for this kind of project. :)
Our brooder box still needs some chicken wire for the top, as well as litter, feeder, heat lamp and water source. We will have it finished up by this weekend when we get our BABY CHICKS!
We are going in with 2 other families to raise 36 meat chickens. How well we live through our first butchering will determine if we ever do that again. Once these first chicks are out of the brooder box, we hope to get some more to raise as layers.Life in the country is about to get real! We are going from true city slickers, to make-shift hobby farmers, and we are excited!
