A night out WARNING: photo bomb!

This past Saturday the girls had a very exciting evening.  After purchasing new dresses and fixing their hair, the were ready for a night out with Daddy.  A local church hosted a Daddy and Daughter Dinner and Dance.  This is not usually Lige's cup of tea, but it is TOTALLY something he knew the girls would love and he wanted to do this for them.  I think it surprised him how much he enjoyed this precious time with his 2 older daughters.

We had lots of posing before they even left the house!

Dinner started at 6 pm with the dance following.  They had ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, and more.  It was actually a perfect gluten free dinner...something we always wonder about for these types of events.  There was a photographer set up to take pictures of everyone.  There was a DJ there to play all the fun songs.  I thought the DJ did something really special: He played all kinds of line dances and social dances (Hokie Pokie/ Chicken Dance)  and took time to teach them to everyone.  This was a great way to get the dads involved with their girlies.  We had no idea who else would be at this dance, but there ended up being several of the girls' friends.  I received a text from Lige that read, "The girls are having a blast.  And I am too."  They loved every minute of this special night.

I am so proud of my husband for doing this with his lovely daughters.  Like I hinted earlier, this was a little outside his usual comfort zone.  However, we've talked many times how important an involved Daddy is in the lives of little girls.  This was exactly the kind of event that ministers to the Princess hearts in our daughters.  Lige had mentioned something about taking them separately to a fancy dinner.  That would have been special and they can still do that.  But this Daddy Daughter dance held so much more magic for Amana and Anlynn.  They talked about it all day.  Anlynn tried to get ready at 11am!  I relished the opportunity to fix their hair and help them pick out new dresses.  I'm not giving it justice, but this was an extremely special and significant night.  It is something I know our girls will remember for the rest of their lives.  And I'm so pleased that their first love is their Daddy.
