Splish Splash Fun

Since we have finally had some hot, sunny weather, I decided to put up our pool. The kids didn't know I did it, and I told them that after rest time I had a surprise for them. When they got up and I told them to get their swim suits on, they were thrilled! Even Mommy donned a suit (thanks to a friend who lent me a maternity suit!) and joined in the fun.

I was curious as to how Harrison would handle the new experience. The girls at his age were very cautious and would totally freak out if they happened to get their face wet. Harrison had his share of trips that resulted in a face full of water. He'd just hop up, wipe his face, catch his breath, then smile at me and say, "That's fun!" Harrison received 2 splash balls for his birthday and he loved playing with them in the pool! For the first half of our time in the water, he walked around. Then slowly he submerged himself to a sitting position and beamed at me! He was so proud of himself for sitting that he said, "Look at me, Mommy!" with his hands up in a "tuh-duh" pose! Then he got really brave and crawled around the pool like the girls (who thought they were swimming like mermaids!).
Amana doesn't like to be splashed...big surprise there! But she had no trouble making sure everyone else got wet! I'm not sure if she even got the top of her hair wet the whole time. Anlynn is the little fish in our family. The first minute in the water, and she was dripping from head down and smiling!
I sat in a lawn chair with my legs dangling in the water for a while. But then this mama got too hot and had to get all the way in! The kids thought this was the best thing ever! They would splash over to me for a quick snuggle, then off they'd go again. Harrison's splash ball worked well to squeeze water onto my hot shoulders. The kids thought it was funny to get mommy wet, but for me it was a desperate need fulfilled!

Harrison is the darkest of our paste-y white kids. We call him brown bear. In this picture he looks like he's striking a muscle pose! He's such a strong little man!
Happy Splashing!
