Fantastic 4H Fashion Revue

After weeks of hard work (and a little fun), the girls got to show off their sewing projects last night at the Kearney County 4H Fashion Revue.  They walked down a runway, doing poses and turns, all the while looking adorable!

Amana made a two-piece outfit: black capris and a yellow and black top.  It was a pattern that my grandma had used for my sister and I when we were young, so that was special to me.  Amana had so much more confidence this year.  It was fun to see that change in her.
Amana also decorated a white t-shirt with felt flowers, making a headband to match.
Anlynn made a skirt with an elastic waist.  To complete the look, she made felt flowers to decorate her tank top and a headband.  She was so cute as she twirled around the runway.  We have to write up a little narration which is read as the girls walk down the runway.  Anlynn got to the end of the runway before her narration was finished, so she just stood there at the end twirling again and again!
They also received their Fashion Revue (modeling) Ribbons last night.
Both Amana and Anlynn received purple ribbons! (That's the best...In case you thought blue was the best, like I first thought!)

Amana was chosen as an Alternate for State Fair, should the winner of Intermediate Fashion Revue not be able to participate.  Amana was very excited about this- her smile says it all!

And then Anlynn...That turkey takes home the GRAND CHAMPION ribbon AND trophy for Beginner Fashion Revue!  She was so surprised and excited!  Her first words when she got back to her seat were, "Dad is going to be SO proud of me!"
Lige hated having to miss this event for the girls.  He loves to support them in their interests and hard work.  However, he was on a trip with our youth group in Kansas City this week.  Thankfully he will be back in time for Pig Showmanship on Monday!

All the awards from last night were strictly for Fashion Revue.  We have to wait until Sunday to see how they did on the sewing construction of each item they made.  Even though it gets pretty crazy, I just love all that 4H offers my children.  From sewing skills, creativity, confidence and poise to mucking around with giant piggies, these girls are more than well-rounded!
